Privacy Policy

Your privacy is fundamental to everything we build.

CleanVault processes all PDF files locally in your browser. Your files never leave your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit your documents.

1. Our Privacy-First Commitment

CleanVault is built on a simple principle: your files never leave your computer. Unlike traditional online PDF tools that upload your documents to servers, CleanVault performs all PDF processing directly in your web browser using JavaScript.

This means:

  • ✅ No file uploads — Your PDFs are never sent to any server
  • ✅ No file storage — We don't store your documents anywhere
  • ✅ No tracking — We don't use analytics, cookies, or tracking scripts
  • ✅ No accounts — No sign-up or login required
  • ✅ No data collection — We don't collect personal information

2. How CleanVault Works

CleanVault is a client-side web application. When you use our tools:

  • PDF files are opened and processed entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib library
  • All processing happens on your device using your device's CPU and memory
  • Processed files are downloaded back to your device
  • No data is transmitted to external servers during processing

3. Browser Storage (localStorage)

CleanVault uses browser localStorage for two purposes:

License Activation

If you purchase a CleanVault Pro license, your activation status is stored in your browser's localStorage. This includes:

  • Activation status (true/false)
  • Activation date
  • License key (encrypted format)
  • Plan type (Personal or Corporate)
  • Expiration date

This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser data will remove this information.

Usage Statistics

For free tier users, CleanVault stores daily usage counts in localStorage to enforce the 10 operations per day limit. This includes:

  • Number of operations used today
  • Current date (to reset counters daily)

This data is stored locally and is not transmitted anywhere.

4. Payment Processing

CleanVault Pro payments are processed by Stripe, a secure third-party payment processor. When you purchase a Pro license:

  • You are redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page
  • Payment information is entered directly on Stripe's servers
  • CleanVault never sees or stores your credit card information
  • After successful payment, Stripe redirects you back to CleanVault
  • A license key is generated in your browser

Stripe's privacy policy governs their data collection practices. We encourage you to review Stripe's Privacy Policy.

5. External Dependencies

CleanVault uses one external library:

  • pdf-lib — Loaded from unpkg.com CDN for PDF processing

This library is loaded over HTTPS and is cached by your browser. No data is sent to the CDN during normal operation — the library is only downloaded once when you first visit the site.

6. Data We Do NOT Collect

To be completely transparent, here's what we don't collect:

  • ❌ Your PDF files or document content
  • ❌ Personal information (name, email, address)
  • ❌ Usage analytics or behavior tracking
  • ❌ IP addresses or location data
  • ❌ Browser fingerprints
  • ❌ Cookies or tracking pixels
  • ❌ Error logs or crash reports
  • ❌ Any other user data

7. Third-Party Services

CleanVault integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Stripe — Payment processing (only when purchasing Pro license)
  • GitHub Pages — Website hosting (GitHub may collect standard server logs)

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

8. Children's Privacy

CleanVault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
