1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using CleanVault ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

CleanVault is a privacy-first, browser-based PDF tool suite that provides the following capabilities:

• Free Tools: PDF Merge, Split, Extract Pages, Rotate, Remove Metadata, Reorder Pages, Remove Pages
• Pro Tools: Add Watermark, Add Page Numbers, Batch Processing

All processing happens locally in your browser. No files are uploaded to servers. The Service is provided free of charge with optional paid Pro features.

3. Privacy-First Architecture

CleanVault is designed with privacy as the core principle:

• All PDF processing occurs in your browser using client-side JavaScript
• Your files never leave your device
• No user accounts or registration required
• No tracking, analytics, or data collection
• No server-side file storage

4. License Terms

4.1 Free Tier

The free tier is available to everyone without restriction. Usage limits apply:

• 10 operations per day
• Maximum 50 pages per PDF
• Single file processing (except Merge)

4.2 Pro License

CleanVault Pro is an annual subscription that removes all usage limits and unlocks additional features:

• Personal Plan: $29.99/year for individual users
• Corporate Plan: $99.99/year for teams up to 10 users

4.3 License Activation

Pro licenses are activated via license keys stored in your browser's localStorage. Key points:

• One license key works on unlimited devices
• No account or login required
• License activation is stored locally in your browser
• Clearing browser data will deactivate your license
• Keep your license key safe for re-activation

4.4 License Validation

CleanVault uses a client-side license validation system. License keys are verified locally in your browser using a hash-based signature. This system provides deterrence against casual tampering but is not cryptographically secure. The license system operates on an honor-based model.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use CleanVault only for lawful purposes. You may not:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or license restrictions
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
• Distribute or resell license keys without authorization
• Use the Service to process illegal or harmful content
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers

6. Intellectual Property

CleanVault and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by CleanVault and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

6.1 Your Documents

You retain full ownership of all PDF documents you process using CleanVault. We claim no rights to your files or data.

6.2 License Redistribution

CleanVault Pro license keys are for individual or team use only. Unauthorized distribution, sharing, or resale of license keys is prohibited and may result in license revocation.

7. Payment and Refunds

7.1 Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. You will be redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page to complete your purchase. CleanVault does not collect or store payment information.

7.2 Subscription Terms

• Pro licenses are annual subscriptions
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled
• You can cancel anytime through Stripe
• No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods

7.3 Refund Policy

All sales are final. Refunds are not provided for Pro license purchases. By purchasing a Pro license, you acknowledge that:

• The free tier is available for testing before purchase
• Pro features are clearly documented
• You have reviewed and accept the license terms
• No refunds will be issued after purchase

8. Limitation of Liability

CleanVault is provided "as-is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We disclaim all warranties, express or implied
• We are not liable for any damages arising from use of the Service
• We are not responsible for data loss, even if caused by Service errors
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation
• We are not liable for third-party services (Stripe, GitHub Pages)

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability, so the above may not apply to you.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement of third-party rights
• Accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Service
• Security or freedom from errors

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CleanVault from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the Service at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
